Microtel Inns & Suites Ranked Number One in Customer Satisfaction in Economy Segment by 'Market Metrix Hospitality Index'

Microtel Inn & Suites – the chain of all newly-constructed, interior corridor economy/limited service hotels – has won top honors in customer satisfaction and loyalty with the number one ranking in its class by the Market Metrix Hospitality Index™ (MMHI) for the first quarter of 2008. With an 81.9 customer satisfaction score, Microtel surpassed 12 other hotel chains and outperformed the economy segment average of 77.1.

The MMHI is a quarterly report of customer satisfaction with hotel, airline and car rental companies based on 35,000 in-depth consumer interviews.

“We are proud that Microtel continues to be recognized for delivering excellence in customer satisfaction,” said Roy E. Flora, Chief Operating Officer of US Franchise Systems, Inc., (USFS), parent company of the franchisor of the Microtel hotel brand. “We thank our employees and franchisees who provide quality, price-valued accommodations and service every day, and our customers who have once again affirmed Microtel is the best in its class.

There are currently 329 Microtel hotels open and under construction worldwide. Hotels offer single, double and suite accommodations, all with free local and free long distance phone calls anywhere within the continental U.S. and free WiFi in all guestrooms, and Microtel’s new complimentary Get Up and Joe™ continental daily breakfast. All feature the stylish new Microtel Dream Well™ bedding with plush pillow-top mattress, fitted bed skirt, and high quality 200-thread count white triple sheeting. In addition, all hotels provide a meeting room, and many offer a fitness center, business center, pool and guest laundry.

Of the close to 40 new hotel openings planned for 2008, at least 30 new hotels will open by the end of the year showcasing the Microtel brand’s award-winning new prototype design with a contemporary and streamlined, yet practical environment, and unexpected enhancements that guests would not ordinarily expect to find in an economy hotel.

For the sixth consecutive year, Microtel has been ranked highest in guest satisfaction among economy hotel chains in the J. D. Power and Associates 2007 North America Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index StudySM. Microtel is a sponsor of The Society for Accessible Travel & Hospitality (SATH) and is known as the preferred hotel chain for travelers with disabilities. Microtel Ranked Highest in Guest Satisfaction in Economy/Budget Hotel Segment by J.D. Power and Associates for Unprecedented Sixth Consecutive Year

For an unprecedented sixth consecutive year, Microtel Inns & Suites has been ranked highest in guest satisfaction among economy/budget hotel chains in the J.D. Power and Associates 2007 North America Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index StudySM. Microtel - the chain of all newly-constructed, interior corridor hotels - is the only economy/budget brand in the hotel industry to have received this recognition six successive times.

Microtel Inns & Suites scored highest of 11 national hotel brands in its segment, outperforming competitors in six out of seven key guest satisfaction measures including reservation, check-in/check-out, guestroom, hotel services, hotel facilities, and costs and fees.

“We are extremely honored to receive this recognition for the sixth consecutive year,” said Roy E. Flora, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of US Franchise Systems, Inc., parent company of the franchisor of the Microtel Inns & Suites hotel brand. “This recognition emphasizes the importance of consistently delivering the highest quality product, service and value to our guests. Special thanks goes to our employees, our franchisees and the enthusiasm and dedication of their hotel team members, without whom we could not have achieved this recognition.”

Flora continued, “As a result of listening to our guests, and to further enhance their overall experience, within the next two months all Microtel hotels will be offering a stylish new bedding initiative known as ‘Dream Well’.” Dream Well beds include a plush pillow-top mattress or topper and fitted bed skirt, high quality 200-thread count white and khaki-piped linens with triple sheeting, down-like blanket, decorative top sheet, bed scarf and pillows. In addition, Microtel continues to be the only economy hotel chain to provide guests with free local and long distance phone calls within the continental U.S., plus free wireless high speed Internet access in all guestrooms nationwide.

The 2007 North America Guest Satisfaction Index Study is based on responses from 47,634 guests who stayed in a hotel between May 2006 and June 2007. The study, now in its eleventh year, measures guest satisfaction based on seven factors: reservations, check-in/check-out, guestroom, food and beverage, hotel services, hotel facilities, and costs and fees.
